Phillies 2026 Draft – Day 2 Pick Tracker

MLB Scheduled day 2 of the draft to cover rounds 5 to 20. It did so opposite the Futures Game and MLB games. It also removes the clean break between picks with slots and those without, so a reminder any pick in round 11 to 20 costs the bonus amount minus $150,000. I would expect the Phillies to take one large likely unsignable pick just in case something breaks down with Tyler Spangler so they have a place to put that money.

This post will be updated periodically with analysis as the second day of the draft unfolds.

Round 5: Will Gasparino, OF, UCLA

Gasparino is the second 6’6″ outlier athlete the Phillies have taken after Bogenpohl. He has plus plus to elite raw power, and unlike Bogenpohl he actually hit it out of the park. He does have a large amount of swing and miss and chase, which will limit how much contact he actually makes. There is a chance the hit tool collapses and he never makes enough contact to make it through the upper minors. Gasparino has a chance to stick in center field despite his size.

Round 6: Macon Winslow, C, North Carolina

Winslow hit well in his year at North Carolina after transferring from Duke. Baseball America notes that a hand injury hurt his overall power numbers down the stretch. Seems like there is some all around offense, but potentially some holes as well. There seems to be some debate about whether he can actually stick behind the plate. If he can. then it looks like there is enough offensive potential to be a fringe starter or solid backup, if he can’t there doesn’t look to be enough bat to play elsewhere.

Round 7: Bo Rhudy, RHP, Tennessee

Rhudy was a transfer to Tennessee from Kennesaw State and essentially repeated there what he did as a sophomore and what he did at the keep. He throws a bunch of strikes (6 walks in 32 innings) with a good strikeout rate. He doesn’t have big time velocity, sitting low 90s, but he gets good plane, spin, and extension on the pitch which causes it to miss bats. He flashes mid 90s, but if he can sit mid 90s it could be a high level pitch. He has a solid slider, but it is an area where a pro team could improve him. Right now the velocity probably makes him a low leverage reliever, but if the Phillies can get more out of him he could be an interesting higher leverage arm.

Round 8: Wyatt Danilowicz, LHP, Louisville

The Phillies were always going to look to save some money in what used to be the end of the day 2 rounds. Danilowicz is a good mix of some MLB upside while clearly being a money saving pick. He is a lefty starter with a poor ERA at Louisville, but decent strikeout numbers, and not horrendous walk rates. It was his first year in a rotation and it was an improvement in control, so maybe there is something more to work with. He seems to have good underlying traits when it comes to fastball shape and whiff rate as well as spin rate on his breaking balls. It is a sort of fringe starter, long reliever profile with maybe some more upside if there is somehow more velocity. As a senior, he should be a decent bit under slot.
