Phillies 2018 Draft Rounds 21-30

The Phillies took their first college seniors in the 25th and 26th rounds, but also a bunch of maybe signable high schoolers. It will be interesting to see who they can sign.

Pick information will updated as information becomes available.

21st Round – Jake Smith, RHP, Chapel Hill Sr HS (NC)

Smith is another skinny tall (6’5″) HS RHP who sits in the upper 80s touching 90. He has a commitment to UNC Wilmington.

22nd Round – Luke Miller, OF, Indiana

Miller has good raw power,  hitting 11 home runs this year and a .291/.330/.558 line overall. His 5.0% walk rate is poor especially when combined with some swing and miss. The Phillies announced him as an outfielder even though he was primarily a third baseman in college.

23rd Round – Logan O’Hoppe, C, St. John The Baptist HS (NY)

The Phillies take a Long Island player for the 4th straight year. O’Hoppe has had an ECU commitment for a while, so this might be a hard sign. He was expected to possibly go in the top 10 rounds and is known for his glove.

24th Round – Corbin Williams, CF, College of the Canyons

Williams is a speedy glove first JuCo center fielder. It doesn’t sound like Williams will ever add much strength, but the glove might be enough to be interesting.

25th Round – Adam Cox, RHP, Montana State University Billings

A fastball-slider reliever, Cox is the first player drafted out of his school ever. He struck out 47 in 28.1 innings as a full time reliever.

26th Round – Eric White, Southern Arkansas University

Dallas Baptist transfer to Souther Arkansas where he struck out 44 in 31.2 innings as a reliever.

27th Round – Jack Conley, C, North Carolina State

Conley only played in 18 games this year with 37 PA. He hit well in that sample size, but also 100 PA total in 3 years. I would be interesting to know if the Phillies have other motivations here (coaching, pitching).

28th Round – Jonathan Jones, RHP, Manvel HS (TX)

Shorter high school righty, has touched up to 92 according to Perfect Game. Struck out 74 in 56.1 innings with 28 walks and a 1.37 ERA. Looks to have a JuCo commitment.

29th Round – Jaylen Smith, LHP, Copperas Cove HS (TX)

Short (5’11”) high school lefty pitcher. Looks to have been the QB on high school team.

30th Round – Brandon Ramey, RHP, Martin Luther King HS (CA)

High school teammate of 15th round pick Daniel Carpenter. Ramey is a bit shorter at 6’3″ and looks to have a stronger college commitment.
