A Critical Look at the Phillies Organization and Minor League Baseball
I promise I won’t do this for everyone involved in the trade as it isn’t fair to anyone involved, including Jerad Eickhoff, because they have earned their shot at the major leagues. The Past: Eickhoff was the 4th pitcher in the 8 player trade that sent Cole Hamels and Jake Diekman to Texas. He was … Read more
I will the writers better than I at The Good Phight (Liz Roscher 1.0, Liz Roscher 2.0, and John Stolnis) and Crashburn Alley (Adam Dembowitz and Bill Baer) be more sentimental about Chase because I am not sure I could make it through writing it. Chase Utley is a Hall of Famer for me and … Read more
This is not how any of us wanted Aaron Altherr to make his return to the major leagues, as the team loses Maikel Franco. This is also not Altherr’s actual major league debut, as he got to quickly do that last year. However, this is his first real chance Altherr is going to get to … Read more
Ben Revere has been much maligned over his time in Philadelphia, from his lack of power to his questionable route running. But overall he gave the Phillies good value in center field (and later left field) for two pitchers that have been really up and down over the years. The Phillies have been motivated to … Read more

If I was talented at this writing thing, this whole post would be a brilliant piece of writing. But I am not one who thrives on creativity, so you will need to settle for me just writing a normal piece with a disappointing headline. I mentioned it early in the season, but the Phillies major league rotation … Read more
As we talked about earlier this week, in order for the Phillies to sign Jhailyn Ortiz and Rafael Marchan they would need to acquire more slot money. The first part of this trade is moving slot money. The Phillies trade the #9 slot ($1,352,100) for the #1 slot ($3,590,400). This is more than the Phillies … Read more
The transactions keep flying in. Andrew Knapp was the Phillies 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft. He injured his elbow that summer and had to have Tommy John surgery in the offseason. This caused him to miss the start of 2014 and not catch full time until mid-summer. This year he is hitting .262/.356/.369 … Read more
This transaction has been the worst kept secret in the organization as Malquin Canelo and Rhys Hoskins waited to play in the SAL All-Star game on Wednesday. Second round pick Scott Kingery and fourth round pick Kyle Martin have been waiting in Clearwater for the BlueClaws to get back from break before joining the team. … Read more
