In the 19th round the Phillies continue the theme of big stuff and big risk in Missouri RHP Seth Halvorsen.
Halvorsen (who is transferring to Tennessee if he doesn’t sign) has big time command issues, walking 57 in 72 innings as a starter this year. He didn’t pitch (but did hit) in 2020 due to Tommy John surgery. Halvorson is all about projection. He is athletic and his fastball sits 94-98 and he has touched triple digits. His slider and changeup both project as plus. The big thing is the control and repeating his delivery, which are major red flags. It is a highly risky pick, but with only one round left and the potential payoff, it is one well worth taking.
Halvorsen went to Mizzou as a two way and played CF to start his career, transitioned full time to the mound this spring. Poor control/command, but FB into upper 90’s with plus breaker at times. He’s athletic and with more focus on pitching, could be a steal of a reliever https://t.co/py04xYt1Jk
