The Phillies break out of their run of hard throwing pitchers to take a college shortstop. Nate Fasshnacht dominated the Atlantic 10 conference this year. After a down sophomore year (he was good as a freshman) he hit .369/.452/.658 with 30 walks to 22 strikeouts in 261 plate appearances. He was a third team All-American this year and the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. He has some power and contact abilities. Coming from a smaller school and conference leaves a lot to prove, and his swing can apparently get a bit long. It sounds like from the draft broadcast that he likely will move to second base in the long term. He is a college junior so he probably gets close to slot for an 8th round pick.
