The Phillies continue the run of hitters, but return to the HS ranks in Jose Valadez-Acuna out of Veterans Memorial HS.
Most of the highlights of Valadez-Acuna are on the mound where he was up to 94 with good spin. Not much on him as a hitter other than 1B/OF and a big strong build.
It will be interesting to see what the Phillies say later about his future position and potential. EDIT: He is actually a pitcher
One note on the Phillies draft: Their 14th-round pick José Valadez-Acuna was incorrectly listed by MLB as an outfielder. He is a left-handed pitcher. Phillies expect to sign him despite a Texas Tech commitment. So, Phillies took 14 pitchers in 20 rounds.

Absolutely filthy curve from Jose Valadez-Acuna LHP.
He’s racking up Ks thru two innings pitched, overmatching the competition w/ this pitch.
A big showing at Fenway last week, @JoseAcuna26 continues stand out on the circuit; huge in-state recruit for @TTUbaseball. #WWBAWorlds pic.twitter.com/jkNxHc7vGE

Jose Valadez-Acuna (21) ran his fastball up to 91 and spun his slider in the mid-70s. Solid operation to develop. #PGNational pic.twitter.com/zWl5nLGGmA

Check out the pitch sequencing from the Texas lefty, Jose Valadez-Acuna.
90 & 91mph FBs followed by a beautiful 76mph CRV (2700rpm) for the K.
Absolutely filthy pitch that has improved all summer. More highlights of @JoseAcuna26’s start coming up.
