As those that read this blog are aware of the Phillies signed a couple of undrafted free agents this summer. One of those was Jason Zgardowski a 6’5″ RHP, who just turned 21 about 3 weeks ago. This weekend he posted the following video of him pitching against the Baltimore Orioles in the Florida Instructional League, since most Phillies fans have not had a chance to see him pitch.
I asked Jason about what his pitch arsenal looks like in pro-ball. He says right now he is throwing a four-seam fastball, slider, and a changeup. He said that the changeup was the pitch he was working on during instructs and that he will be working on adding a two-seam fastball this offseason.
For reference another source had Jason’s fastball at 92-93 touching 94 once during the appearance in the video, his slider was 83-86.

This was from the game on September 27th. I was gratified to see that the number of pitches matched the number I counted. Whew. I didn’t know they had a camera in center. We are only allowed to wander dugout-to-dougout. I’ve seen the side camera secured to a railing, but often wonderd why the Phillies don’t seem to gather video from behind home plate like most other clubs. Hmm.
