Baseball Prospectus published their organization rankings today. The Phillies came in at #20 overall up from #25 a year ago. I feel like it is a bit low, but a lot of that has to do with Baseball Prospectus ranking J.P. Crawford at #36 overall, which is considerably lower in talent than where I think he belongs. I also am a bit higher on the overall depth of the system, but those are my personal opinions and I think this ranking fits the rest of BP’s rankings.
BP listed the Must-See Affiliate for the Phillies as AA Reading, and it is hard to disagree with a team that should include at minimum over the season, J.P. Crawford, Aaron Nola, Zach Eflin, Roman Quinn, Ben Lively, and Tom Windle.
Overall, I think that BP’s overall assessment of the system is more realistic than Keith Law’s.
