Phillies 2025 Draft Rounds 11 to 20

I will update this post as picks are made with any information I can find.

Round 11: Will Vierling, C, Murray State

Will is a cousin of Matt and is a left handed hitting catcher. He played sparingly over two seasons at Louisville before transferring to Murray State and making it to MCWS where they ran in Gage Wood. He hit decently well in the Northwoods League last summer, but exploded this season hitting 10 home runs and .312/.415/.530 with 33 walks and 25 strikeouts.

Round 12: Tyler Bowen, RHP, Lander University

Bowen had a 3.90 ERA out of the bullpen for Lander as a senior with 20 walks and 51 strikeouts in 32.1 innings. He has also pitcher 5.2 innings with Frederick in the Draft League. Baseball America highlighted him in their list of seniors saying he had a “lively mid-90s fastball and a sharp slider”. He looks like a stereotypical project reliever where the Phillies will need to help him find the zone more.

Round 13: Jack Barker, OF, College of Southern Idaho

In his second season, Barker had a tremendous season hitting .456/.543/.750 in 58 games with 22 doubles, 7 triples, 8 home runs, and 19 stolen bases, setting school records in average, hits, doubles, and triples. He walked 33 times to 32 strikeouts. He is committed to Colorado Mesa University and played with the Wenatchee AppleSox this summer.

Round 14: Jonathan Gonzalez, LHP, Stetson

Gonzalez is a short left handed starting pitcher who presumably missed 2024 due to an injury. He was dominant for Stetson this year with a 2.11 ERA in 15 games, going 93.2 innings with 21 walks and 105 strikeouts. He is reportedly low 90s with good command and a very good changeup.

Round 15: Jacob Pruitt, RHP, Mississippi State

Pruitt was good for Indiana State in 2024 before transferring to Mississippi State where he pitched poorly with poor control and results. He is now transferring to Missouri. He was low 90s with a changeup and slider earlier in the year.

Round 16: Logan Dawson, SS, Eastern HS (NJ)

Dawson looks to be a projectable left handed hitting shortstop. There is some swing and miss, but a good approach. His size (6’3″) coupled with BA already calling him a fringy runner makes me think he might be destined for third if he fills out. He is committed to Boston College, and doesn’t look to be an easy signing, but we will see. He played 16 games in the draft league this summer, but went 3-31 with 10 walks and 18 strikeouts against college pitchers.

Round 17: Richie Cortese, LHP, Lander University (SC)

Cortese, a teammate of Bowen is a massive LHP (6’6″ 240lbs) who has barely pitched after transferring to Lander University. In 15.2 innings he walked 14 batters and struck out 28. It looks like he was a two way player in 2022 and 2023 before moving to the mound full time. He has struggled with control all 4 years in college.

Round 18: Matthew Potok, RHP, Coastal Carolina

Potok missed all of the 2024 season due to injury, but had a great year out of the bullpen for Coastal Carolina. In 21 appearances he had a 2.52 ERA with 8 walks and 33 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. Prior to the injury he was up to 97, but I have not found how he is throwing now.

Round 19: Robert Phelps, SS, Reinhardt University

Phelps hit .350/.460/.603 with 11 HRs, 38 walks, and 22 strikeouts this year for Reinhardt. He is currently playing for the Edmonton Riverhawks in summer league where he is hitting .284/.367/.396 with 15 walks and 12 strikeouts in 32 games. It looks like he is currently in the transfer portal.

Round 20: Landon Schaefer, SS, Fayetteville Sr HS (AR)

Schaefer is an Arkansas commit who is likely to reach campus unless another signing doesn’t go as planned. He is a projectable right handed hitter who should grow into solid power. He has some risk to move off the position. Most reports note some current swing holes and pitch recognition issues.
