Phillies Select James Tallon in the 6th Round of the 2025 Draft

Make that 6 college arms in a row for the Phillies and a second reliever prospect in LHP James Tallon from Duke. Tallon made 3 starts, but has a junior had a 3.96 ERA in 36.1 innings with 19 walks and 50 strikeouts.

Tallon, like Craig is a big lanky guy at 6’5″ 195lbs. Like most of the Phillies selections he has flat riding action, sitting in the low 90s. He has primarily used the fastball and has a slider and changeup, both of which will need some more work. His control hasn’t been great, but that isn’t surprising given his size. He profiles as a middle reliever upside.

I don’t expect Tallon to get slot and would not be surprised if he got closer to the $150,000 for a player drafted in round 11-20.
