No Phillies in Eastern League Top 20 Prospects

Baseball America’s Eastern League Top 20 is out today and it does not contain any Phillies.  The Fightin Phils had some players with the talent to make the list in Jesse Biddle and Aaron Nola, but the lack of health/results and innings kept both off of the list.  Kelly Dugan and Cameron Perkins may have had cases with full healthy years in the EL, but both didn’t put all the pieces together this year.  It was a disappointing year in AA for those looking for breakouts, and that is reflected here.

I will update this post with any notes from Josh Norris’ chat relating to the Phillies.

Matt (Madison): Not surprised no one from Reading made the list, but what were the review like on Kelly Dugan's second trip through the league?

Josh Norris: Solid enough reviews. Average or better tools across the board, but no one standout tool. Also noted that he hits with a switch-grip at the plate, which is definitely out of the ordinary. If everything clicks, he could be a starter, but his more likely role is as a backup.
