The first true money saving pick for the Phillies in nearly 23 year old 5th year senior Jason Ruffcorn.
A very classic late Day 2 pick in a college performer with stuff that also will save some money. Ruffcorn is a reliever with a fastball up to 98 who has a ton of college experience. His slider is not a great pitch, which limits his upside. His changeup exists, but is not a good pitch. Ruffcorn has solid control, and missed bats in college. He doesn’t have the stuff to profile as a high leverage arm, but given his age and experience he should move pretty fast and could be an up and down type low leverage reliever.
He is the son of Scott Ruffcorn
Huge arm goes the @Phillies. Saw Ruffcorn earlier this season and it was extremely nasty stuff β up to 97-98 with a quality secondary pitch. He can help a team pretty quickly, IMO. https://t.co/vJWyBxDR69
