Day 3 of the draft is marked by a non-stop stream of names and id numbers, which when coupled with 1000+ players taken and little information on them
11th Rd (#330) – Marcus Lee Sang, CF, Northern HS (MD)
Lee Sang was a two way player with a commitment to St. John’s. He has a good arm and power potential. This year he reportedly hit .523 and had a 0.55 ERA in 51 innings.
12th Rd (#360) – Jadiel Sanchez, RF, Natividad Rodriguez HS (PR)
Sanchez pitched in high school as well. He has the size you want in a high school outfielder, and obviously the arm, and is a switch hitter.
13th Rd (#390) – Hunter Markwardt, CF, Oklahoma Christian University (OK)
Markwardt was one of the best hitters in the Heartland Conference. He doesn’t look to have a ton of power, but he makes contact and can run.
14th Rd (#420) – Chris Micheles, LHP, Washington
Two pitch college reliever reportedly with a high 80s fastball with a chance for more and a breaking ball. He had a 4.24 ERA this season, but 74 strikeouts (28 walks) in 51 innings (quite a bit for a college reliever).
15th Rd (#450) – Adam Leverett, RHP, Gordon State College (GA)
Leverett came in for a workout with the Phillies. Put up good numbers in his second year at junior college.
16th Rd (#480) – Chris Cornelius, SS, Missouri
College junior who has played SS for Mizzou the past three years. Had a breakout 2019 season hitting .327/.387/.475.
17th Rd (#510) – Hunter Milam, LHP, Gulf Coast CC (FL)
Milam just turned 19, and throws in the low 90s and flashes above. Matches that with an improving curveball.
18th Rd (#540) – Nick Lackney, LHP, Minnesota
Lackney moved to the bullpen after the beginning of the year and put up big numbers. He is a good size college senior.
19th Rd (#570) – Spencer Van Scoyoc, LHP, University of Central Oklahoma
Van Scoyoc has a plus breaking ball and a fastball in the low 90s. He has an easy delivery, but absolutely miserable control with 44 walks, 19 wild pitches, and 12 hit by pitches in 39.1 innings this season.
20th Rd (#600) – Keaton Greenwalt, OF, Lubbock Christian (TX)
Greenwalt comes from the same conference as Markwardt, also putting big numbers.
21st Rd (#630) – Hilton Dyar, RHP, Clinton HS (MS)
Good size high school arm who won’t turn 18 until July. Doesn’t look to have a college commitment.
22nd Rd (#660) – Tucker Maxwell, CF, Georgia
Maxwell had 10 home runs and 19 stolen bases this year and plays a pretty good center field. His hit tool is the problem with a K% of over 28% and a career high .239 batting average this year.
23rd Rd (#690) – Herbert Iser, C, Dallas Baptist
Iser has been a known prospect since he was a Perfect Game All-American back in 2015. His tools have never really come together, but he has power and should stick behind the plate defensively.
24th Rd (#720) – Jose Ulloa, RHP, ASA College Miami
JuCo RHP with good size, but control issues walking 29 in 30.1 innings.
25th Rd (#750) – Jamie Sara, RHP, College of William & Mary
Sara was drafted in the 12th round of high school and has had a rough go of it in college. He put up a 2.87 ERA this year in 15.2 innings, but walked 19 to 22 strikeouts.
26th Rd (#780) – Hunter Hearn, CF, Sam Houston State
Hearn is a 4 year starter that the Phillies made sure was announced as a center fielder. Looks like there is some contact and ok power.
27th Rd (#810) – Tyler Adams, LHP, Indiana University of Pennyslvania
Adams fits with a theme, as a LHP with control issues and bad numbers. He pitched 27.1 innings with a 6.26 ERA and 41 walks to 38 strikeouts.
28th Rd (#840) – Carlos Francisco, RHP, Hillsborough CC (FL)
Good size 19 year old with poor numbers.
29th Rd (#870) – Micah Yonamine, C, Iolani HS (HI)
Yonamine mashed all year and was the All-State catcher for Hawaii and has a commitment to Iowa State.
30th Rd (#900) – Dylan Castaneda, RHP, Salisbury School (CT)
As Mitch Rupert pointed out, the last player the Phillies took out of Salisbury School was Anthony Hewitt in 2008. Castaneda has a Michigan commitment so he might be tough sign.
31st Rd (#930) – Shane Murphy, LHP, Hamilton HS (AZ)
Murphy is a big left handed high school pitcher with a JuCo commitment
32nd Rd (#960) – Logan Koester, RHP, Chaminade HS (NY)
The Phillies took their obligatory Long Island high schooler. Koester is a big righty with a commitment to George Washington. He put up a 0.44 ERA and sits in the high 80s.
33rd Rd (#990) – Thomas Little, LHP, Vauxhall HS (AB)
Little is a big (6’7″) Canadian lefty who appears to be all leg and projection.
34th Rd (#1020) – Jalen Battles, SS, McLennan CC (TX)
Battles appears to be a three sport (football, basketball, baseball) guy, who hit .320/.433/.532 with 35 BB to 41 K in 57 JuCo games.
35th Rd (#1050) – Michael Prosecky, LHP, Nazareth Academy (IL)
Prosecky is a good sized lefty who sits 89-93 with room to add. He has an advanced changeup, but his breaking ball needs work. He has a Louisville commitment and is unlikely to sign.
36th Rd (#1080) – Cam Beauchamp, LHP, Indiana
Beauchamp was used very sparingly by Indiana this year and seems to fit the mold of control plagued lefties for the Phillies.
37th Rd (#1110) – Brendan Bell, RHP, Central Florida (FL)
Bell is a short right handed reliever with a low 90s fastball and a curveball. He is only 19 so maybe there is more.
38th Rd (#1140) – Josh Hendrickson, LHP, University of San Diego
According to Baseball America, Hendrickson is an Australian with a mid 80s fastball and a couple of breaking balls. He put bad numbers, but he is big and maybe the Phillies think he can at least be an org left handed reliever.
39th Rd (#1170) – Austin Crowson, LHP, Western Oregon University
The Phillies dipped into Division II school for a couple of picks this year. Crowson put up decent numbers in 2019, including a 7 inning no-hitter at the end of April. He is also another big (6’5″) bodied lefty for the Phillies.
40th Rd (#1200) – Vito Friscia, C, Hofstra
Friscia is a 4 year starter with great numbers the past three years and some good numbers in a short stint in the Cape Cod League in 2018.
