More news of the unsurprising variety this morning (though not all teams let their top pitchers go), but J.P. Crawford and Aaron Nola will be representing the Phillies in the Futures Game at All-Star weekend. Both are far and away the Phillies best prospects. This will be Crawford’s second trip to the game after going with Maikel Franco last year. I am interested to see what Aaron Nola will do in a single inning assignment as many pitchers just air it out.
Not related to the Phillies representation, I HIGHLY recommend going to the game if you can get to Cincinnati. You can usually find good tickets to just the Futures Game on Stubhub for around $20. Once you have tickets you should up before the gates open and then race to field level to see what is left of batting practice and infield drills. It is amazing to watch and well worth going on it’s own. Overall the game gives you a really good look at what top prospects actually look like.
