Phillies Take David Martinelli In the 6th Round of the 2016 Draft

The Phillies take their first college bat in the 6th round. Martinelli is a junior out of Dallas Baptist. He has seen his stock rise this year after striking out a ton as a sophomore and having a horrendous summer on the Cape. He rebounded nicely in his junior year, but increased contact lead to a slight decrease in power. He is on the verge of being a tweener, but seems to have just enough speed and range to stick in center field. There is 5 tools here, but I am not sure there are 5 average tools. That being said this is the 6th round of the draft, if he is a bench player this is a win, and he has a bit more upside than that.
