Phillies take Blake Quinn in the 9th Round and Julian Garcia in the 10th Round of the MLB Draft

In the 9th round the Phillies take Blake Quinn, he is a senior with a year of eligibility left because he transferred from Fresno State to Cal State Fullerton. Quinn is a big right handed pitcher who struck out more than a batter an inning in an up and down season. It looks like his control has been shaky and he was better in his relief outings late in the year. He seems like he may be an underslot pick and a reliever, but right now it is hard to know where the money may be going.

In their last round of the day the Phillies take a draft eligible sophomore in RHP Julian Garcia. Thanks to Chris King (2080/PG) for passing along that he heard that Garcia is 91-93 with a sharp breaking ball and solid control. Now that is likely a little bit high, but that is workable in the 10th round.
