Phillies Sign LHP Jeff Singer to a Minor League Deal

It is always positive for everyone when a local kid signs with his hometown team.  The Phillies made someone’s dreams a little closer to reality yesterday when they signed LHP Jeff Singer.  Singer went undrafted this past June out of Rutgers-Camden (he previously played for Monmouth), he then signed with the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League.  He apparently threw for the Phillies right after the draft but the Phillies opted not to sign him.  He had a rough time statistically with the Riversharks, but apparently made some mechanical changes that bumped his fastball to 95 in workouts for some big league teams.  It is unknown whether Singer will start or relieve.

He was signed by scout Rowland George who scouts independent leagues for the Phillies.

  1. This is pretty cool, I have been bartending at a local south jersey watering hole for the past 15years and Jeff’s girlfriend works here. Wish him the best
