Phillies Midseason Top 50 Update

I keep my own running rankings of the course of the season and make minor adjustments to try and account for changing information and my own opinion. The end result is that ranking changes feel for gradual and less reactionary. Obviously this season the amount of information coming out is next to nothing, so these rankings updates are mostly adding and removing players. Since after asking on twitter people look at the depth chart, I wanted to update the rankings there, so here are the updates that will be put into the depth chart momentarily.

Quick Notes:

  • Players in the majors or with significant time in the majors were not included whether they have officially graduated or not. That includes Alec Bohm, Spencer Howard, Connor Brogdon, Ramon Rosso, and Cole Irvin.
  • Dropping off the list were #49 Arquimedes Gamboa, #50 Daniel Brito, and #19 Enyel De Los Santos
  • The top 12 on the preseason all kept their order relative to each other. Howard and Bohm graduated, first round pick Mick Abel slotted in at #1, new signee Yhoswar Garcia in at 9 right behind Johan Rojas, and 3rd round pick Casey Martin slotted in front of Kendall Simmons.
  • Only big mover among the next 15 was Ethan Lindow who I just felt was a little low.
  • Both JoJo Romero and Mauricio Llovera slipped because they look more like relievers.
  • The group of young projectable players got a small boost in Carlos De La Cruz, Dominic Pipkin, Gunner Mayer, and Kyle Young, and they were joined by new draftee Carson Ragsdale at #33
  • Big fall for Deivy Grullon who looks like a backup, and Jonathan Guzman who really could not afford the lost season.
  • Kyle Dohy drops down a bit as the control and stuff was not sharp back in February/March and the Phillies have not yet added him to the Alternate Site
  • Joining the top 50 were #46 Eduar Segovia a young RHP who was up to 94 last year and was the last cut in the offseason, #49 Garrett Cleavinger who looks like he might help in a major league relief role, and #50 Nicoly Pina who throws hard, but is a GCL reliever.
  • Baron Radcliffe slotted in at #47, with NDFAs Noah Skirrow and Billy Sullivan making up the just missed
