Day 3 is well underway with 5 rounds already in the books. It is rapid fire today with the draft tracker down for the first 3 rounds before coming back to life.

Round 11 – Josh Stephens, Mater Dei HS, CA
The Phillies kicked off the day with another HS bat. Stephens is a center fielder with a plus hit tool. He should be able to stick in center fielder, though if he can’t he will be forced to left field by a poor arm. He was a borderline Top 100 (BA had him 115). He is signable, but it might take a lot of money.

Round 12 – Justin Miller, Central Union HS, CA
Round 13 – Andrew Brown, Granite Hills HS, CA
The Phillies went with back to back prep HS RHPs in rounds 12 and 13. There is not a lot to go on with these two players. Miller is bigger (6’4″) than Brown (6’1″) but that might not mean much. Without knowing anything, taking HS pitchers is always a good thing in my mind.
Round 14 – Darick Hall, Dallas Baptist
Round 15 – Alex Wojciechowski, University of Minnesota Duluth
The Phillies go with back to back college performers in the 14th and 15th. Hall is a teammate of 6th round pick David Martinelli and also pitched for Dallas Baptist. He hit 18 home runs this year and has raw power, but his swing can get a bit long. Wojiechowski is a senior who just destroyed D II this year. In 55 games he hit 33 home runs with a .444 batting average and .973 slugging. His numbers are just silly, but his level of competition was also very low. He might be absolutely nothing, but it is the 15th round, so it is worth seeing what he can do in Williamsport for a summer.
with the money they would seem to have available, surprised they didnt go after any higher end high school arms after round 10 (the big kid in round 22 was ranked somewhere in the 300’s). Stephen seems a little redundant with Moniak drafted- and video and high school numbers didnt suggest stand out speed.
