Jesmuel Valentin Named #12 Prospect in Midwest League

When Ruben Amaro moved Roberto Hernandez in a waiver move to the Dodgers for two players to be named later, the expectations were not high on the potential return.  However, those opinions have faded quickly as the return turned out to be 2B Jesmuel Valentin and RHP Victor Arano.  Arano did not crack the MWL Top 20 (he missed time due to injury and had less eye popping stats), but I think he is the better long term prospect.  In Valentin the Phillies acquired a potential everyday second baseman who will bring good defense to the position with a good approach and the chance at fringe average to average power.  It isn’t a superstar package, but Valentin could be a great value on his own.  I will not that the Midwest League was much lower on top talent then the South Atlantic League, in comparing the two lists, it is unlikely Valentin would have made the SAL list, but #12 in MWL is still much higher than expectations.
