J.P. Crawford Pulled out of Arizona Fall League

Simple transaction line, J.P. Crawford has been replaced on the Glendale Desert Dogs roster by IF Drew Stankiewicz.  All the reports have said that Crawford looks like himself, just a really exhausted form of himself.  No reason was given for the switch, Drew is from the Arizona area so the switch to him makes some logical sense, I would not expect him to play much.

Quick breakdown on a change by Crawford with two strikes done by Eric Longenhagen

EDIT: Crawford has a small tear in a ligament in his thumb

    • He is 20 years old playing in his second full professional season, his team’s last game was September 19. He is tired. Better to have him go home rest and workout rather than develop bad habits compensating for exhaustion. Outside the foot thing in the Longenhagen video he drew a lot positive reviews in hsi 6 games, especially for his glove.

He does need to bulk up some to withstand the pounding of a full season, but once again he is only 20 years old.

  1. I’m glad the Phillies did this. He did play a ton of baseball and I felt his stats pretty much were classic cases of fatigue – peripherals staying intact pretty much, but the contact rates kinda going uuuuugggghhh in early August. AA is a big jump, and the playoffs too.

  2. there is reporting that he has a slight tear of the ligament in his Right thumb. same one as cesar Hernandez but not as severe, no surgery, just rest until spring
