J.P. Crawford and Luis Garcia Named Paul Owens Award Winners

Not much to be said about Crawford other than he didn’t put up the best statistical year in the system, but it was an incredible year for the Phillies top prospect and he is near the top prospects in the game.  As for Luis Garcia it is certainly an incredible year as his 0.96 ERA over 46.2 AAA innings would indicate.  I would have opted for Aaron Nola given the expectations and results, but very few pitchers in the organization pitched the whole year and put up half decent results.  I broke down all of the pitching Paul Owens Award candidates about a month ago, and it was slim pickings.

Anyway, congratulations to both players.

  1. I agree on Nola. Although he only pitched half the year, he still threw more innings (55.1) than Garcia (46).

Also, I want to say how much I enjoy the site, and although I don’t comment on every article, I do read them all. Please keep up the good work.
